MEP Support that fits your project
GBCE works as an extension of your project team. We can deliver a complete MEP design package, take responsibility for electrical design, or provide targeted senior support when workloads, deadlines or project requirements need additional capacity.
From a defined calculation or drawing package to a complete RIBA stage, the scope can be tailored around what your project actually needs.
Complete MEP Design
Coordinated mechanical, electrical and public health design from early feasibility through to RIBA Stage 4.

Utilities support →From early feasibility to RIBA Stage 4
We support projects from the earliest feasibility decisions through to coordinated technical design. Our involvement can cover the complete MEP package or a defined part of the design, depending on your project, programme and internal resource.
Feasibility & Briefing
Early MEP strategy, electrical load assessments, utility capacity reviews, budget considerations and identification of key technical risks.
RIBA Stage 2: Concept Design
Design criteria, preliminary loads, plant and distribution strategies, utility requirements and outline MEP systems.
RIBA Stage 3: Spatial Coordination
Coordinated MEP layouts and schematics, calculations and system selections developed alongside the architectural and structural design.
RIBA Stage 4: Technical Design
Detailed calculations, coordinated layouts, schematics, specifications and technical information for tender and construction.
Need support beyond Stage 4? Construction-stage reviews, design queries and site support can also be provided where required as part of an agreed scope.
Senior expertise. Flexible support. Direct accountability.
GBCE combines the technical experience of a senior consultancy with the flexibility of a smaller practice. You work directly with the engineer responsible for your project, with clear scopes, responsive communication and practical design solutions tailored to what your team actually needs.
Direct Senior Involvement
Your project is led by a Chartered Engineer with over 10 years’ experience, providing consistent technical oversight from initial brief through to design delivery.
Flexible by Design
Appoint GBCE for a complete MEP package, electrical-only design, a defined drawing or calculation package, or additional capacity when your team needs support.
Practical Engineering
We focus on coordinated, buildable solutions that consider programme, cost, utility constraints and long-term performance — not design in isolation.
Practical MEP support across real projects
From early utility assessments and infrastructure reviews to coordinated electrical design, GBCE provides clearly defined technical packages tailored to the project stage, programme and required deliverables.
Residential Development
Utility infrastructure review and coordination of new electricity, water and telecommunications connection requirements for residential development projects. The scope included demand assessments, utility searches, connection applications, liaison with network providers and review of budget quotations and connection constraints.
Industrial Manufacturing Facility
Electrical and utility support for the expansion and relocation of manufacturing operations into additional industrial units. GBCE reviewed the proposed power requirements, assessed the existing electrical supply and coordinated directly with the network operator to establish the appropriate capacity and connection arrangement.
Adjoining Industrial Units Refurbishment
Stage 3+ electrical design for the refurbishment and fit-out of adjoining industrial units. The electrical package included a new incoming supply and distribution, lighting and emergency lighting, small power, containment, mechanical equipment supplies and fire alarm design, including beam detection within the high-bay storage areas.
Direct access to the engineer responsible for your project
GBCE Consulting Engineers is led by Gabriela Balas, a Chartered Engineer with over 10 years’ experience in building services design and project delivery across residential, commercial, retail and industrial projects.
Gabriela remains directly involved from the initial project review and fee proposal through to design delivery, giving clients a consistent point of contact, responsive communication and clear technical responsibility throughout the appointment.
